


Maria is a certified weight and fitness trainer, aerobics instructor and nutrition specialist.
With credentials from the International Sports Sciences Association, American College of Sports Medicine, American Sports & Fitness Association, Functional Nutrition Alliance , TRX Trainer, Virtual Nutrition Coaching & counselor, International Fitness Association, The LEARN Education Center, International Correspondence School, Exercise Safety Association, Aerobics & Fitness Association of America, California Aerobic Dance, Nike Corporation and Aerobic Pipeline International.
Maria has been in the fitness industry for over 40 years, currently providing personalized training at BodyWorks Downtown and other private home locations in Fredericksburg, Virginia. In the past, Maria has trained at locations in Tampa, Florida; Manila, Philippines; Mount Vernon, New York; Tel Aviv, Israel; Buenos Aires, Brazil, Argentina; Cairo, Egypt and Bangkok, Thailand.

Marcus Lawrence has been an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, one of the most internationally
reputable companies in fitness, since 2009. In doing so, he has continued his education with
certifications in Water Aerobics, TRX, Kettlebell Instruction, Senior Training, Sports
Conditioning, and has worked in multiple settings from a large chain, a privately owned gym,
and home training.
Marcus’s officially designated specialization is strength training, but that doesn’t necessarily
mean the standard iron and plate sort of strength training. This means a mix of body weight and
Free weight training, kettlebell, dumbbell, and mobility, all of which falls under the umbrella of
“strength training”.
Marcus believes firmly in health benefits of being functionally stronger such as an increase in
bone density, metabolic rate, etc, but also your overall outlook on life. It’s not just about how you
look or whether you can lift a Volkswagen or not. It’s just about completing your day without
pain, or just a generally improved quality of life.
Marcus lives in Fredericksburg, and has two teenage daughters. He is also active in the local
theater and arts scenes.

​Everyone’s wellness journey starts off on a path of trials, little accomplishments, low days, and
huge milestones! The journey is all about what you make of it and the harder you work, the more
fulfilling and appreciative you are of accomplishing your goals! My wellness journey started in
2014 with joining the military. I trained with no direction for months to try to lose the minimum
10lbs I needed to attend basic training. I went from 190lbs pre-Army to 146lbs by the time I
finished Basic Combat Training. The military provided me the opportunity to learn about my
body, to train more efficiently with injuries, and to be more mindful and aware of training with
intention and making that mind-body connection.
Bodied by Buford goes beyond physical wellness, offering guidance in mental, emotional, and
physical domains. I believe in supporting a holistic, sustainable lifestyle by understanding the
mind-body connection. While tailoring mental and physical fundamentals individually and
recognizing the unique demands of real-life, consistency is established. The personalized
